Prof. Dr Sven Simon

Prof. Dr Sven Simon holds a Chair of International Law, European Law, and Public Law at the Philipps University Marburg and is a Member of the European Parliament since 2019. Born in 1978, he studied law at the Justus Liebig University Gießen and at the University of Warwick, UK. He completed the first state exam in 2005 and received his doctorate in 2009. Following his practical legal training in Frankfurt, Berlin, Tel Aviv, and New York, he finished his second state exam in 2010. Sven Simon then returned to the Justus Liebig University Gießen to work as Assistant Professor for five years. In 2015 he was awarded his post-doctoral qualification for work on constitutional law analyzing the limits of the German Federal Court in the European integration process. After visiting professorships at the Free University Berlin and the University of Wisconsin, USA, he was appointment as full professor at the Philipps University Marburg in 2016. Sven Simon is Deputy Chair of the United Nations Association of Germany.
