Prof. Dr Andreas Reckwitz

Andreas Reckwitz is Professor of General Sociology and Cultural Sociology at Humboldt University Berlin. He was previously a professor at the University of Konstanz and the European University Viadrina and has held visiting professorships and research fellowships in Berkeley, London, St. Gallen, Vienna, Heidelberg, Freiburg, and Bielefeld, among other places. He was awarded the Bavarian Book Prize in 2017 and the Leibniz Prize of the German Research Foundation in 2019. He is the author of several books on cultural theory and the theory of modernity, many of which have been translated, including “Das hybride Subjekt” (2006), “Die Erfindung der Kreativität” (2012), “Die Gesellschaft der Singularitäten” (2017), and “Das Ende der Illusionen” (2019; all Suhrkamp Verlag). Andreas Reckwitz was a member of the advisory board ‘Education and Discourse’ of the Goethe-Institute and is a regular guest author of the weekly newspaper ‘Die Zeit’.
