Hito Steyerl
Hito Steyerl is a Berlin-based filmmaker and writer and one of the most critically acclaimed artists working in the field of video today. From the very beginning, she has brought together both aspects of her work—the filmic-artistic and the theoretical-discursive. Her work is largely concerned with feminism and militarization, as well as the mass proliferation and dissemination of images and knowledge brought about by digital technologies. Major exhibitions include How Not To Be Seen: A Fucking Didactic Educational Installation (Andrew Kreps Gallery, New York, 2014), Factory of the Sun (Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, 2016) and her contributions to the German pavilion at the Venice Biennales of 2013 and 2015.
