Sean Hagan

Sean Hagan was General Counsel of the International Monetary Fund from 2004 until September 2018. He is currently Visiting Fellow at Exeter College, Oxford University. While at the IMF, Sean Hagan was responsible for all legal matters pertaining to the IMF’s regulatory, financial, and advisory services. He led the IMF’s recent efforts to overhaul its approach to addressing corruption. He has published extensively on the law of the IMF and on issues pertaining to the prevention and resolution of financial crises. Prior to joining the IMF, Sean Hagan was in private practice, first in New York and subsequently in Tokyo.
