Prof. em. Dr Herbert Burkert

Prof. em. Dr Herbert Burkert is President of the Research Center for Information Law at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland and Honorary Professor of Public Law and Communication Law. He studied law, political science, and history in Cologne and Dublin and was a research associate at the University of Regensburg. He gained his doctorate at the Goethe University in Frankfurt, and completed his habilitation at the University of St. Gallen. He is on the research staff at the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems (currently on leave), International Fellow of the Information Society Project at Yale Law School, and Collaborateur Scientifique at the Centre de Recherche Informatique et Droit, Facultés Universitaires Notre-Dame de la Paix, in Namur, Belgium, as well as Managing Director of a private art foundation in Germany.
