Prof. Dr Kai A. Konrad is Director at the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance and a Scientific Member of the Max Planck Society. He was a Full Professor of Economics at the Freie Universität Berlin from 1994 to 2009, and from 2001 to 2009 he was a Director at the Wissenschaftszentrum Berlin für Sozialforschung (WZB). He is a member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and of four other science academies. From 2007 to 2018 he was a Co-editor of the Journal of Public Economics. Since 1999, he has been a member of the Council of Scientific Advisors to the Federal Ministry of Finance and was the Chair from 2011 to 2014.
