Dr Günter Krings

Dr Günter Krings is Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of the Interior. From 1989–1994 he studied law and history at the University of Cologne and passed his first State Examination in Law in 1994; from 1994–1995 he studied US and international law at Temple University in Philadelphia as a Fulbright scholar and received a Master of Laws; in 1997 second State Examination in Law. From 1997–2002 research assistant at the Institute for Public Law at the University of Cologne, lecturer at the Cologne School of Journalism; in 2002 he received his doctoral degree; from 1998–2013 lawyer in Mönchengladbach; in 2004 he became a lecturer and has held an honorary professorship at Cologne University since 2010. Since 2009 he has been chairman of the Bundesarbeitskreis Christlich-Demokratische Juristen. Since 2008 he has been chairman of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Gesetzgebung. Since 2002 Member of the German Bundestag. From 2002–2005 chairman of the group of young Members within the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in the Bundestag; from 2006–2009 chairman of the Parliamentary Advisory Council on Sustainable Development; deputy member of the First German Commission on Federal Reform, member of the Second German Commission on Federal Reform; from 2008–2009 he was legal officer of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group and from 2009–2013 deputy chairman of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group. Since December 2013 he has been Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of the Interior.
